We’ve received a few questions about this, so a quick note regarding belt translations: we’re actively trying to think of alternatives to CLICK AND LOAD etc since we’re not 100% happy with the translation either, but in the meantime until we think of something we’ll be keeping it in for consistency’s sake. Once we find something we’re happy with, it’ll be v2’d out. If we never find an alternative, it’s staying.

Inb4 responses telling you not to translate things in your translation: Gashatto is the sound effect of a cartridge being inserted, right? So maybe stuff varying on “cart” might fit a little better, like “CART IN!” for Gashatto, “CART OUT” for Gashun, etc.

Click and Load is honestly a fine translation for the sound effects, and it works with the finisher callout and actually explains how the Riders can stay transformed while moving the cart.
If you wanted to get really gamey, you could always use “STOP ‘N’ SWOP”. 😉

About the CLICK AND LOAD thing, I can’t think about another chance. In Spanish we’d use “Click” or something like that, because we don’t have an actual sound for that (or at least I never heard it in my country).

Maybe for the “CLICK AND LOAD”, it could be something like “CL-ICK”, like it’s extending the word out a bit to match “GA-SHATTO”. Maybe. I dunno, your guys’ sub, your choice.

Hey, ignore me if you have a particular reason for doing it, but if not, would you mind linking to nyaa with page=download instead of page=view (the way O-T typically does) to avoid opening extra pages and unnecessary clicks?

The subbing was excellent as always, but honestly? This felt like the first episode of Ex-Aid I didn’t really like. I really think the series is being done a disservice by not having two-episode arcs. There was an awful lot being condensed into twenty minutes here.
Still, even Drive had some early episodes I consider to be bad and that’s one of my favorite series of all time. I still have high hopes for Ex-Aid.

IMO, it’s too long for character introduction (Snipe) to use 2-episodes arc. I think they want to keep introduction to be one episode only. Although many things about Taiga already mentioned in the episode, but I think there are still many things about his past that can be told in future stories, especially about Zero Days and Taiga’s connection with Hiiro #CMIIW

Why not just go with the actual onomatopoeia? “Gashat” “Gashoon” “Kimewaza” “Gachan” Etc. It sounds cool and you could try and stylize it like you did with the Openings subs.

The only alternative to Click And Load I can think of is “KA-CHUNK!” and that probably sounds ridic

I’d like to keep it as onomatopoeia, just using patterns familiar to English speakers. For example:
Gashatto -> KA-CHACK!
Gatchan -> KA-CHOW!
Gatchon -> KA-CHUNG!
Gashun-> KA-CHOO!

Oh, and by the way, there are real-life games with US releases in the same pattern as “Bakusou Bike” and “Shakariki Sports”.
A good example of this is Ikari Warriors, the game that put SNK on the map.
