“Kiriya looks like knife cat. Put that in the release post. The world needs to know.” – Head Translator

Regarding Bakusou Bike etc: we’re leaving them untranslated. We think the names being written in the roman alphabet on the Gashats themselves puts them more in the “proper noun/title that should be left untranslated” category.

Once again, a huge thank you plus to Gustavaum for the raws!

Enjoy the subs, and see you next game!

  1. So now you are leaving things untranslated? Sigh….

    • Well when the Gashat’s themselves literally have English titles written on them, that’s pretty hard to ignore. Especially during finishers when there’s huge text on screen.

I will, however, reiterate that I don’t want the transformation lines to involve literally made-up sentences – there’s really no point to them being spruced up like this, and it kinda causes miscommunication in the fandom from people who take fansubs as fact, something that happened during Gaim with Aesir’s translations. It’s the one thing I cite as a flaw with EXCITE’s work so far.

That being said, neither of our comments matter. The whole reason there’s more than one fansub group is because everyone has their own take on things, which appeals to different people. Our nitpicks are just pointless “That’s not how I would do it” preferences, and no amount of passive-aggressive sighing will change that. 😛 You’ll just have to edit the fansub script if you can’t handle a lil word that appears for about a second at most.

Couldn’t of said it better myself, Malunis. Though, I think in the Release post, they should translate IF NEEDED. Like for example, the heck is a Bakusou Bike? That should be put in like “Oh, Bakusou means x” With x being the meaning of the word in this context. Regardless, I’m impressed they are keeping to a schedule, despite numbering only 3.

Great subs as usual! I totally approve of keeping the Gasshat names as is. I’m a big believer in leaving proper nouns untranslated. That includes attack names, weapon names, and gear names, unless it has an obvious and common English translation. We’re watching a show made in Japan, it won’t kill us to read a Japanese word or two.

Also, out of 5 main Riders this season, only one is actually not a jerk. Still, I think that Kiriya/Lazer has the potential to be a good person. That bit at the end could have just been all bluster. Though I would find it hilarious if Genm turns out to actually be the nicest person ever, just to counterbalance all the jerkiness going around.

Speaking of Genm, I’m really curious about his motives. He shows up, kicks the heroes’ butts, and then leaves without killing them. Why is that? Is he like Mashin Chaser in that he doesn’t kill humans while they’re un-transformed? If the theory about Genm being Graphite is right, is he just testing his own powers while saving the heroic riders for some other purpose? If the theory about him being Pallad is right, is he just out there having fun while keeping the other Riders alive so he can have more fun with them later? Either way, I’m looking forward to learning more about him next week, and I hope we learn more about the Bugsters in general. They seem to be intelligent and organized, but as of now they haven’t shown much to prove that in uncertain terms. I hope we at least learn more about their goal.

    PATCHATTO!

(It’s a patch in case you didn’t get the pun. Only works on Gust’s raw, and you must have xDelta3 in your PATH or at least in the same folder as the raw.)

I’m fine with Bakusou Bike being Bakusou Bike since, as it was mentioned, it is a proper noun. Well, i’m okay with most things as long as we don’t get a repeat of Ryoma Warring, lol.

    Thanks for the subs.

Episode-wise, good ep, although I have to say I’m not too impressed with Genm Level 3. His finisher is pulling out a wheel from his mospeada armor and… toss it? That’s it?

Say, I say the tv size lyrics for the opening somewhere and it seems the phrase you had “Turning On’ is supposed to be “Turn it on”. Well, for those of us had gotten the script I guess we can change that one ourselves, but perhaps you can fix it for the other episodes to come

Hope you guys also sub the YouTube series. If it’s canon (I’m not sure, perhaps?) Thanks for the great job in subbing 🙂 Hope we can find the alternative for the Click Clicks 😛

By the way, there are real-life games with US releases in the same pattern as “Bakusou Bike” and “Shakariki Sports”.

A good example of this is Ikari Warriors, the game that put SNK on the map.

(yeah, I originally posted this on episode 3’s comments… but I meant to post it on this one)
